Yazidi and Shingali Messages from Kaniya Foundation for Culture and Media (KCM) to the German Government
A delegation from KCM visited the German Consulate in Erbil and met with Ms. Kerstin Spresterbach, who recently assumed her role as Head of Development and Cooperation. The meeting reflected a shared desire to build genuine bridges of communication and partnership.
During the meeting, the KCM team presented an overview of the organization, which was founded as a voluntary youth initiative aiming to empower the Yazidi community through media, culture, and documentation—while remaining committed to working inside Shingal despite all challenges.
The team discussed future projects and initiatives to support the people of Sinjar and emphasized the importance of German support being directly connected to the people themselves, rather than through intermediaries.
The team also expressed their deep appreciation to the Federal Republic of Germany for its long-standing support of the Yazidi community—whether in relief efforts, documentation, or rehabilitation—stressing that the continuation of this support represents a real hope for a more just and stable future.
At the end of the meeting, KCM extended an official invitation to Ms. Spresterbach to conduct a field visit to Shingal, to strengthen practical cooperation and document the reality as it is on the ground.
We believe that genuine dialogue not only shapes policy, but rebuilds trust.
And that nations are uplifted when their youth are given the opportunity to be part of the solution.
